River Map is an eco-friendly solution paired with a specialized hike app designed for hiking enthusiasts, which provide users access to safe and high-quality drinking water throughout the hiking journey while enhancing the overall hiking experience.
Water Pollution Near Hiking Trails
Water resources at many national parks have also been affected by extractive industries.
Increased municipal and industrial water demand and wastewater discharge, in conjunction with anticipated demand for tributary impoundment at residential developments and for agriculture, are potentially significant stressors to national park water resources in the future.
Currently, the hiking bottle market offers various options focused on durability, insulation, and convenience.

“I'm interested in a water bottle with a reliable filtering mechanism to further improve water quality, particularly when sourcing water.
I'm environmentally conscious. I prefer sustainable materials to minimize my environmental impact.”
How can we ensure water is safe to drink during the hike journey?

““Drinking water during hiking maybe can be more engaging or informative. Does it allow for easy access to water without compromising on security during more challenging parts of the hike?”
It’s crucial for hikers to carry a trustworthy purifier water bottle, so that they can access to clean drinking water during their hiking journey while decreasing their environmental impact.

Shape Experiments
I chose this shape because the user is able to hold the water bottle easily, and the screen on the lid is more visible for the user.
Technology Support
TDS Detector
Below 500 parts per million (ppm) is safe to drink
Filter
The purification cartridge is made of ceramic fibers that block particulates and contain two technologies:
positively charged ions that pull out pathogens — like rotavirus, E. coli, or giardia,
powdered activated carbon, which absorbs heavy metals and chemicals.
IMPROVES TASTE: the Carbon filter reduces chlorine, odors + organic chemical matter
FILTERS OUT CONTAMINANTS: the Membrane microfilter protects against Bacteria, Parasites, Microplastics, sand, dirt, and cloudiness

User Interface Design
I started our UI iterations with low-fi wireframes, prioritizing the high-level information architecture and overall use of components for the initial test.
